On a VERY PERSONAL level, our friends daughter, Annika Strain, who was only 3, died of cancer in September 2006. We would LOVE if any of our blog readers would be able to provide an auction item for the event below. Of course, there is no fee to be involved. THE AUCTION, “Raise A Hand For Annika”:
This year’s event is the 2nd Annual “Raise a Hand For Annika” Auction. The auction will be held on April 25, 2009 at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. We expect 300 people and hope to raise $50,000. The funds raised at the event will benefit the Foundation directly and help to meet its short and long range plans.

Your donation will make it possible for the AKS Foundation to continue to support the Child Life Services Department at UCSF Children’s Hospital as well as the Pediatric Oncology patients and their families being treated at UCSF. The foundation’s long term goal is to provide the funding for an outdoor play area at the new UCSF Children’s Hospital at Mission Bay in San Francisco (to be built in 2013).
